The Hagley Vault has reached 100 followers on Tumblr! To celebrate, we will be featuring images from our Digital Archives selected by the Hagley Library staff.

Liz Fite, who works in our Pictorial Collections department, selected this Art Nouveau style poster by Leopold Metlicovitz. “According to our Swann Galleries auction catalog, this poster features the Roman god Mercury riding on the front of a train bound for Milan. I love the contrasting red and dark colors.”

The poster announces the opening of the Simplon Tunnel and the

the Internationsal Exhibition held in Milan in 1906.
