The Cotton Club was perhaps the most famous club in Harlem during the 1920s.
It featured jazz music from some of the top entertainers of the time, including Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and Cab Calloway. The club was controversial in that it did not allow black patrons.
